| - Zeffirino was Ol' Blue Eyes' favorite restaurant in Genoa, Italy--and not for nothin', as they say in New York (and Hoboken). When Sinatra passed away, Zeffirino sent his wife, Barbara, a massive amount of the food that they loved to eat together. We were shopping at the Venetian resort in Las Vegas, when a charming employee beckoned us inside the Las Vegas incarnation of Zeffirino, where we decided to have a full dinner. And boy, were we full when we finally rolled out of there after a fantastic, authentic Italian-style meal.
First, the bread was light and tasty; butter and olive oil came with it. Then, to paraphrase Louis Prima, we ate antipasto twice just because it was so nice.
My husband had the lasagne, which was prepared the traditional way with salsa balsamella (Italian for Béchamel), cheese and a rich meat sauce. (On our second visit, I tried the lasagne too, and it is fantastic.)
I had pasta with meat sauce, and it was stupendous. We were treated extremely well by the elegant wait-staff, and noticed on our way out that Zeffirino's roving musicians were tuning up their instruments in order to entertain Saturday night diners. Someday soon, we will return to that lovely, classically-decorated restaurant, Zeffirino.
