| - First-time flyer. Planes were delayed due to weather - no fault to the airline for that. But flying from Ottawa to Toronto after a 2.5 hour delay, and landing after midnight, TCCA was closed. Not only were we diverted away from TCCA, but we were diverted from Pearson as well and directed to-- get this: Hamilton!
Needless to say the passengers were stunned, incensed, tired, fuming... other adjectives I will not list here. We were bussed from the tarmac at the Hamilton airport to Toronto. It was also too late to catch any public transit at Union Station, the TTC was no longer running subways. People's option was basically the vomit comet by the time we got back to TO at 2:15, or pay for a taxi.
Ironically, the bus trip was as long as the plane trip from Ottawa.
Kudos to Porter staff for keeping their cool and being polite with some irate passengers.
However, to all considering Porter, I would check their landing policies before you fly. I had heard they diverted to Pearson on occasion, and I'm OK with that - but Hamilton - that was a disppointing first.
