| - Summary: rolled ice cream shop a novelty in Scarborough, worth a visit
Top Must-Get: "Men N Black" (Oreo)
Top Regret: Crackers (toppings)
We ventured here in early November, well after it's initial hype had faded. There was one family just finishing up their ice cream, and no line up.
The menu is very straightforward, written in chalk in a homely style on a blackboard. There were about 10 flavours to pick from; we went with "Taro Taro" and Men in Black (Oreos).
We got to see them roll the ice cream, and as with most open kitchens, it's really cool to see your food made on the spot. The chef was efficient and poised, and we got our order fairly quickly.
We got to pick our toppings - some decent variety there, with the usuals (crackers, sprinkles, mango pieces, chocolate chunks, etc) but also some relatively different ones such as purple pockys.
The cracker was a bit stale, but that aside, it was quite delicious. For $7, you are definitely paying a premium for a twist on a common dessert, but I do think the price is comparable to, say, frozen yogurt spots that offer similar topping customization.
I don't think the portion was particularly small, but like all ice cream, I felt like it didn't last long enough.
I'm not sure I'd come back unprompted (I mean, for the same price, I can get two whole tubs of ice cream at the grocery store), but if I'm craving dessert while in the area, I'd definitely consider coming back!
