Good thin crust traditional pizza is very hard to find in Montreal, everyone raves about Bottega but I've been a couple of times and was underwhelmed each time, and I've tried all the others.. Magpie opened last September and I've been twice now, in NYC or Boston this wouldn't make anyones top 30 list, but in Montreal it's probably the best I've had. They have a beautiful oven, the sauce is tasty.. my only peeve was one time I ordered a pepperoni mozzarella and there was way too much pepperoni on it, big long pieces like a Pendeli's pizza where they slather on toppings without a second thought. A good pizza shouldn't be overwhelmed by any one topping, if anyone at Magpie is reading this, cut back on the pepperoni, 4-5 small round pieces per slice would be a much better amount.. not 10 giant strips..
