 | - A perennial on the top ten steakhouses in Montreal, this restaurant earns its place there with everything you would expect - great steaks, lovely ambience and quality service. We visited on a Sunday night so it wasn't too busy. Our waiter, Omar, seemed inexperienced but didn't make any mistakes so at least he was well trained. The wine list is not as extensive as other high end restaurants, and they lack a cellar, but there are plenty of reasonable options.
We started off with two of the classics: the Caesar salad - very nice, though I prefer the pieces of lettuce smaller; and carpaccio - also very nice, but too much arugula and they shouldn't put tomatoes on it. The mains were even better. The beef tenderloin medallions were excellent - soft, perfectly cooked and juicy. The bison ribeye steak was fantastic - massive flavour, perfectly cooked and juicy with that bit of gamey chew you get with bison meat. I would order this again in a heartbeat!
For dessert we settled on the chocolate cake - expectedly decadent and rich - washed down with some fine old port and cognac. because our mains took a while to arrive, the manager comped us a couple of Grand Marniers - nice touch, shows some class to take care of his customers.
All in all, we were both very happy with our dinner here, and would be happy to return the next time we are in Montreal.
Recommended!
