I've been to a handful of bike shops in Toronto and none of them have really made me want to go back - all except for Bateman's.
They were very friendly, did everything they could to try and troubleshoot what was wrong with my bike (of course, it wasn't making the same noise in the shop as it was when I'm riding around), and they easily found a replacement bash guard that had broken off. They didn't even end up charging me for anything, and when I asked how much for the replacement part (which had come off another used bike) they just said to throw some money in the tip jar.
Compared to some other places where you can barely get the attention of those that work there, and then when you do, it feels like you are inconveniencing them, this was a welcome change.
