My fiance and I absolutely love New Zealand Cafe, a hidden gem in a less than stellar strip mall (with a name that sounds like it has nothing to do with sushi). It is some of the best sushi we have ever had at prices half as much as most other restaurants ($7-11 for a roll versus $12-16 elsewhere, for example). With that being said, we no longer actually eat at NZ Cafe. The restaurant is TINY. As in, I hope you want to have dinner with the strangers sitting next to you because you'll be on top of them and vice versa. Also, with only a few tables in the restaurant (maybe 10 tops), on busy weekend nights you might find yourself waiting for up to an hour. Once you're seated, the service is typically great (friendly, cordial) albeit slow as molasses so don't expect this to be a quick trip. One dine-in experience took about two and a half hours from start to finish.
As a result of the less than stellar dine-in experience, my fiance and I order takeout regularly instead. We call ahead (well before we are hungry because take-out can take a while, too) and pick up our sushi to enjoy at home. They have a nice variety and it is great quality as well. I would highly recommend this place for sushi takeout any day.
