| - I now have trust issues with the La Quinta brand name. I've stayed at several in the past and have never had unpleasant experiences. Based on those experiences, I did have high standards for this location. Unfortunately, they weren't met.
One of my cousins was planning on driving into town for a few days, so I helped her find a last minute hotel room. She was traveling with her dog and decided she didn't want to board him at a veterinarian clinic, so I suggested she book a room off-Strip considering how the majority of pet friendly hotels were charging almost $300 nightly during the days she would be here. I chose this location for the following reasons:
+ Short drive to the 215 beltway
+ Although not near The Strip, the major side streets leading there are easily accessible; The Strip is about 15-20 minutes away
+ Great location with many nearby restaurants, stores, and parks
+ All rooms are pet friendly and there are no additional fees to pay if you have a pet
+ Complimentary breakfast
+ Free Wi-Fi
ROOM
My cousin booked a room with two beds, so I did bunk here for a few days and am able to share my experience about my stay.
The room we had was nothing fancy, but it was clean and spacious. Beds were also comfortable and free of questionable stains. Our bathroom was small and had a strange layout. The toilet and the shower with the leaky faucet were located in one room, and the sink was outside. In addition to the leaky faucet, our room had other quirks like the fire alarm going off when there was no smoke. Despite those minor concerns, we had a comfortable stay.
SERVICE
This hotel does have several hospitable staff members, but I question the quality of service we received from others.
The check-in process was smooth up until I asked what their policy was for pets being left in the rooms if we decide to have the cleaning attendants tidy up while we were out, ex: Does the dog need to be placed in a crate? Do we have to schedule a time for when the attendants can come up and clean the room while we take the dog out? The guy at the counter's answer was something along the lines of: "Um, you can leave it there or something." Fortunately, another employee provided us with some real answers. You can schedule the cleaning attendants to clean your room during certain times while you're out with your pet. We chose to leave up the "Do Not Disturb" sign instead, that works.
We received an unnecessary 6AM "wake up call" from the front desk informing us that a customer made a complaint about how we parked our vehicle too close to theirs and that they, "couldn't get into their car." I'm not going to get into the ridiculous details and the strong opinions my cousin and myself have about the problem, but in short: the issue could've been handled in a professional manner than waking us up at 6AM in the morning.
Lastly, we had a staff member knock on our door to ask if we were leaving that day. The answer: No. The suggestion we wanted to provide: Check your records.
OVERALL
The basic rooms are fine, but the customer service is inferior.
