| - I made an appointment for my kitten to be declawed and neutered at "A Cat Hospital" a couple months ago. There were other, cheaper options, but the rave reviews and the fact that there are no dogs really swayed me. For my appointment, they told me to bring his shot records. I brought his rabies verification (the only vaccine legally required) and was told he would have to have a distemper shot. It had to include an exam that was discounted with it -even though I already had him in for an actual appointment? I said fine, if that's what you require. They call to tell me he has ear mites during the surgery and it will be another forty dollars to give him treatment. I wasn't aware of them, but fine. Quickly, $200 became $300. But they were "taking care" of my baby, so great!
Alas, here we are two months later and I notice a couple of his nails are growing back. Shocked, because I didn't know this could even happen, I call and ask what they can do. The receptionist tells me it's possible without the laser surgery (an option I was unaware of) and that it's never happened before. The doctor said they would take the nail out if I come back in, free of charge. I didn't want my cat to have to go back and do it again, but I also didn't want to cause other complications. In I went, waiting for the front to figure out what paperwork I am supposed to sign (something I would think they'd have ready). Finally, a condescending girl in the front shows me a bill for $50 and says he needs another distemper- something I was not told to bring. Then tells me "it will only be $50 because you get a discount on the exam". Knowing there are a lot of vaccine clinics who do it for a lot cheaper, I rescheduled and went to get it done elsewhere. I don't care that he had to have vaccines, the point is I should have been told before I drove half an hour out of my way to bring him each time.
Finally, we are at the final appointment. The same snotty girl in the front asks for his shot records and has me sign my estimate of $0. I am told I can pick my kitty up same day, but they'll give me a call. I receive a call mid day, saying they actually had to remove SIX! So the doctor wants to keep him overnight. Fine. I go to pick him up the next evening and the really nice receptionist from my first appointment is there. She had made very nice comments about my kitten. I meet a different doctor than the first time, also a nice woman -even complimented my hair. I was glad to be done, I came home, gave my baby his pain meds, cuddled with him a bunch, and oh look... a nail they missed. ARE YOU JOKING?! Never again will I deal with this place. Ridiculous. I seriously hope this review gets read before anyone decides to declaw their cat here.
