| - I am new to physical therapy and I'm a 42 year old woman.
When I scheduled my first appointment, I walked in the building to do so, I did not call. I was A little surprised by how open it was and that there were no private rooms. I did not know that that's the way physical therapy is. I really wish that one of the people that room wait there at the front desk, would have shown me around so I knew what to expect the first time I went in for my treatment. When I arrived for my first appointment I thought that I would be seeing one physical therapist for my entire visit, but again, I was wrong. I saw my personal physical therapist for. Approximately 45 minutes, and then I was passed along to several physical therapy assistance. I did not know that this would happen and to be quite honest I don't like it. I have been a dental assistant for over 23 years, and only ONE person works on a patient beside the doctor. Not a few. It just seems very impersonal to me, but it's my opinion. If you are new to PT, this is a good review to see what you will be in for. People who have gone before, are used to this, as I guess I will become too.
I specifically requested a female PT, because I'm going for hip and tailbone issues, however you should know that the assistants are mostly all young males. It was a little awkward some of the exercises I had to do with their instruction.
The staff is all very friendly and nice, it's just I'm a very personal person and it was not what I expected.
