We planned a vacation to the southwest, and when we found out that one of our very favorite bands was doing a residency here (Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers) we knew we had to get our tickets and arrange our itinerary to go to the show.
Hands down, one of the best decisions ever.
First of all... RCPM is an amazing band. We have never seen them live before and this 20th anniversary show of their first album was a really great event.
Second... Small, local "dive" feel in a college town, the bar is extensive, the staff amazingly helpful and probably some of the most hard working people I've ever seen. Didn't like that that the path from the kitchen to the dining room next door saw the poor guys having to go outside to get things over to the dining area. A bit of a redesign in knocking out the last booth against the wall by the door to the patio would make a huge difference for the staff. I felt bad for them.
Drinks were cold. Tequila was flowing (Mexican Moonshine by Roger Clyne) and the service speedy with so many people in the place. Sound system was great, so many times a place like this may sound muddy.
But this was outstanding as an experience. Looks like if you love live music and drinking and dancing in front of the stage... this is the place for you.
"Here's to life," as Roger would sing.
