I purchased some new tires and wheels from a guy on Craigslist who had upgraded to something larger. I needed to have the TPMS sensors moved from the old wheels to the new ones and was referred to El Rancho. The price was right - $60 to do the work - but the final result could have been better.
First, I the tire pressures were all screwy. The truck (Tundra) calls for 33 psi on all 4 wheels. El Rancho had put around 50 psi in 3 of the tires and nearly 60 in one of the rear tires. It seems like they just eyeballed the pressure??
Second, the lug nuts were vastly overtorqued. Factory spec is 85 ft-lbs. I had to use a breaker bar to loosen and re-torque most of them. I wasn't watching when they reinstalled the wheels, but they must not have been using a torque stick with the impact gun.
Lastly, the wheel balancing was terrible. At 65+ mph there was a bad vibration in the steering wheel that got worse. I took the truck to Discount and had them rebalance and now they are perfect.
As a plus, the staff here is very friendly and the work was done quickly. I just wish they had paid more attention to details and did a better job on the balancing.
