| - I'm a huge fan of gastropubs, and wanted to check out FnB since they are on the Eater X list for the Phoenix area, and I liked what I saw on their menu. We came in before a Giants afternoon game to pick up some food for lunch. They are located in a strip mall type setup, and you won't be able to see their signage from the road, so you'll have to park and walk. Unfortunately, their current menu isn't posted online, and I don't remember exactly what each dish was, so had to guess as best as possible what we ordered:
-Salad w/Pomegranate, Granny Smith Apples, and Parmesan Cheese (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fnb-scottsdale?select=ICiC7fdhDtqHUC8uNf0HrQ#ICiC7fdhDtqHUC8uNf0HrQ): This salad was too tart! The pomegranate seeds weren't sweet yet, and the granny smith apple slices were so tart they made my cheeks pucker and twitch. The vinaigrette was also on the sour side. Skip!
-Roasted Brussels Sprouts w/Peanuts, Arugula, and Fish Sauce (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fnb-scottsdale?select=ICiC7fdhDtqHUC8uNf0HrQ#sBdRQZXQ4oi0rJCZDcbk2Q): Yum! I really liked the char/crust on the brussels sprouts, and they were perfectly cooked, with a nice crispy to the outer leaves. However, it was a little salty, and I felt like I needed a large bowl of rice to eat it with. They give you a huge portion, so it was definitely worth the price.
-Roasted Pork Sandwich (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fnb-scottsdale?select=ICiC7fdhDtqHUC8uNf0HrQ#GyWXLJovPSm4s3sWnTFw9Q): Super disappointing! There wasn't anything I enjoyed about this dish. The roasted pork didn't have much flavor and was on the dry side, and the bun was way too thick. There also wasn't enough sauce, so the sandwich overall didn't have any flavor. It was also served with a fregula (or some other type of small pasta or grain) salad, and that was just so-so.Skip!
My biggest complaint with FnB is how long it took for us to get our takeout order! Our server told us 15 minutes or so when we first placed the order, and almost half an hour later I had to grab him to ask where our order was. There were only a few other tables in the restaurant at the time, so I'm not sure what was happening in the kitchen. Our server kept telling us our food was almost ready, and they were packing it up for us, but then another 10 minutes would pass with nothing happening. I'm pretty sure it took over 45 minutes for us to get our food, and we ended up missing the start of the game, which I was bummed about. Our server was nice enough to pour us glasses of water while we were waiting, but I was disappointed with the lack of communication regarding when our food would be ready, and also that they took so long to make everything! I'd hate to dine there when the restaurant is full! There are some stores around there to browse at least, but they need to give their customers an accurate time frame of when their food will be done. I hope they work on speeding up the kitchen (if possible), and also ensuring their online menu is updated. At least parking in this center was easy, but I could see it getting really crowded on a weekend night since there ware other restaurants in that area as well.
