| - Went to the Jones Blvd Tire Works for a tire patch. I specifically asked for a patch and not a plug. The guy tells me they only do patches. While I'm waiting, a woman comes in that also needs tire repair and I hear the guy telling her about plugs. After she finishes her paperwork, I go back and tell him I heard him talking to the woman about plugs. He again says they don't do plugs.
Instead of going back to the waiting room, I stand there and watch through the window to make sure it's done right. He goes to the service area and talks to tech. They exchange a few words and the tech goes to get my truck and starts work.
Not even 10 minutes into the work, another tech comes in and they call the woman that also needed tire repair. Her repair was finished. Her tire never came off the wheel. They had to have repaired hers with a plug which I was told they don't do.
Half an hour later, mine was ready to go. All seemed well until the morning. Tire wasn't flat, but it was obviously losing air. I took it back and they said the hole was too big for repair. I ask them why they didn't say that when they had the tire off and before they took my money. They said they'd look again. When they finished, they said there was no guarantee it would hold. After two hours, it was noticeably losing air again.
Took it to a small local shop off Dean Martin. When he had the tire off, he showed me the work of Tire Works. They didn't buff the interior patch area or use a stitching tool which ensures proper patch adhesion. The worst part is that when I took it back to Tire Works the second time, they attempted to fix the failed patch by shoving a plug through the patch. Again, they don't do plugs.
I've bought tires from them before without problems. They have good tire prices. When I need new tires, there's a good chance I'll return, but a good tire repair seems to be beyond their skill set.
