| - After a long day of looking at potential venues for my wedding reception, I visited Something White Bridal Boutique in Independence for an evening appointment with Becky, one of the owners. It was my first wedding dress shopping experience, and although I was exhausted from traveling during the day, Becky's fun-loving spirit and enthusiasm put me in the BEST mood!
I went in knowing the style I wanted to go with, and even shared a picture with her about my vision. In response, she said she had the perfect dress for me--and sure enough it was! The first dress I tried on ending up being "the one" for me. Before pulling the trigger, she encouraged me to try on many different dresses during my visit just to see if anything else caught my eye. As I was going from dress to dress, I felt as if I were playing dress-up with one of my childhood friends because I couldn't stop giggling. She brought out beautiful sparkly belts and veils for me to try with the dress to get the complete picture. Becky made the experience so much fun for my mom and I. At the end of the visit, I decided not to purchase the dress then and there because I wanted to explore my options because I still had a few weeks before I had to make a final decision. Not once did I feel as if Becky were pressuring me to buy the dress though.
I ended up going to a few other bridal stores in the area, but nothing could compare to the unique dresses and stellar customer service at Something White. The larger bridal stores made me feel as if I were a number being pushed along. That was not the case with Something White. They made me feel like a princess in the one-on-one appointments I had with them in their beautifully adorned shop. When I decided to come back and say yes to the first dress I tried on there, Becky and Karin (both of the owners) came out with champagne glasses for my mom and I to toast. I will remember that moment always!
Karin and Becky also offered up their knowledge of local vendors to help us in the planning process. They even shared their ideas of what to do with the excess fabric from my gown.
When it came time for my fittings, Something White's seamstress was very professional. Just as sweet and kind as Karin and Becky, the seamstress did an amazing job on the alternations of my lace gown. Everything was done so neat and on time. Not once did I worry about my dress in the months leading up to my wedding. I trusted the ladies at Something White implicitly with my gown.
Now, here's where my story gets interesting... Five days before my wedding (and on my birthday to make matters worse), our caterer for our reception went bankrupt. If you can imagine, I was a wreck. Karin from Something White was the second person to call me that day (behind my father-in-law) to offer her assistance in helping with connections to find an alternate venue and caterer in the area! Her placing that phone call to offer and me her assistance demonstrates incredible customer service. She didn't have to do that--but she did! A local caterer ended up saving the day and we were able to remain in the same venue, but I will never forget what Karin did.
On my wedding day, my gown ended up knocking the socks off of my groom. I couldn't have been happier! It was easily the best day of my life. Thank you to Something White Bridal Boutique for EVERYTHING they have done over the past eight months. I highly recommend them for brides and bridesmaids looking for gowns and a fun experience!
