| - Considering the amount of money they spent on the ride, I was not as thrilled as I thought I would be however it is a good time and a must see for tourists.
The view to the north and north west is great, unobstructed, but with almost nothing to see. The view to the west, sw, s, and se is partially obstructed by casinos and hotels leaving you with only a partial view. A few feet higher would have made a big difference. At the peak, you can see the bellagio fountain show which is really the highlight. At night, the lights really make a difference and it is a much better experience.
The video is annoying and if the writer and the comedian/host ever gets another job I would be surprised. There is almost nothing informative about the video nor is it remotely entertaining. Even the quiz questions are too simple and at least one is a blatant plug for the Yardhouse.
The pricing is not bad, $19.99 during the day and $39.99 at night with $5.00 discounts to locals. This summer locals were 1/2 off on Tuesdays, not sure if it is still going.
Helpful tip 1-if you prebook a time, book the daytime price but book your time at 6:45. The daytime price for prebookings goes until 7 but if you show up after 6 without pre-booking you pay the full price.
Helpful tip 2 - the groupon and living social deals are deceiving. They claim $20.00 for day or night but when you go to pay, the price jumps up to $34.99 for nighttime which is the same price you pay if you are local.
Helpful tip 3 - kids under 12 are free.
As is the norm in Vegas, you will have your photo taken and then they will try to gouge you if you buy the photo. Those prices are way out of line. Something I never understood, why charge a price most people won't pay when instead you can charge something more reasonable and make more money overall. (For those who can't do simple mathematics and economics if you charge 30 dollars and sell 100 you make $3000. If you charge 20 dollars and sell 200 you make $4000.
Anyway, If you are visiting, definitely do it. If you are local, take advantage of the deals when you have friends in town.
I would say it makes for a romantic date but that is only if you manage to get a car to yourself. When there are 20+ others, including people drunk and getting sick, it isn't very romantic.
