Called 72 Degrees (Plumbing Masters) 5 months ago to fix a drinking spout on my sink. Tech was very nice, told me it needed replaced plus the faucet also needed replaced. Then he asked about my hot water heaters. I told him they were working but he wanted to see them. Told me I needed to replace both of them. Since my husband and I were both going through radiation for cancer I did not want anything else to break down so I agreed. (We are now at $2819.84). He then asked about my air conditioning units....I said they were old but I could not deal with anything more, financially or emotionally.
Last week I called another AC company to service my AC units. Was told they should probably be replaced in the near future. The technician wanted to know why one of the water heaters was placed in the center of the closet. I did not know. So, I called 72 Degrees and asked them to move the hot water heater about 12-18" to the left as an installation adjustment. They charged $447.12, which my husband paid (I was not at home). I called the manager Jim as I thought this was an unnecessary charge. He was one of those fast talking "you-know-nothing-old-lady" type of guys. He did say they would waive the $447.12 installation adjustment fee if I purchased their AC units! Am afraid to do this as they seem to be too aggressive on the $$$ ! Next thing they will want to rebuild my house! Am writing this as a warning to consumers, especially the elderly- this is ABUSE!
