| - I have stayed at the Flamingo several times before and my most recent stay is the first one that really left me disappointed. Something happened with our reservation, but they were still able to get us a room. The guy tells us he is going to upgrade us to a jr suite. Thinking this is a good thing, I get excited. Anyway, we walk into the room and it's totally outdated. The hotel had recently done a lot of renovations, and those rooms are great. It's just super annoying that they still rent out the crap ones like ours-- stained carpet, mold on the carpet in the corners, broken fixtures, mold on the shower curtain, dirty tiling in the bathroom. The bedroom section had such a low ceiling that my sister, who is 5'2, could touch the ceiling. We crawl into bed at night and realize there are no plugs on the nightstand to charge our phones-- so the phones have to be plugged into the wall across the room and just lay on the floor.
Parking is horrendous. Half the garage is of limits because it provides parking to a surrounding property and to Hertz. I wanted to valet since I was with someone who has joint problems, but they were full every single night. Finally I just gave up and started parking in a lot a way down the road.
Another thing that bothered me is that the room service only goes until 1pm. I was looking forward to being in my pjs the night we arrived and watching tv, but there were no options. I get that there are other food places nearby, but im would have paid a pretty penny for someone to deliver it to me.
The saving grace for this trip was the spa, which I will write a separate review about. It's only $10 to enter for the day for guests of the hotel, and it's totally worth it.
I will stay again so long as they guarantee me a refurbished room.
