  • What a bummer. Took some friends back after a fantastic first-time experience at Searsucker and ended up with some major disappointments. What was still good: Most of the food, ambiance, drinks. What I learned this time that I didn't know last time: Happy Hour pricing is a gimmick and only available at the bar. What slipped this time: - The duck fat fries - for lack of a more eloquent way to put it - sucked. It was my FAVORITE dish and I was so eager to order it again. I was the uber hype woman for this dish. Imagine my disappointment and frankly embarrassment when my friends tried it along with me and found it to taste exactly like normal fries. No more savory/umami flavors. I asked the waitress what's up. She said they switched over to fresh not frozen fries recently. I'm not a food chemist so I can't say if that affected the taste of what but it was night and day. I would not order this again. - The buffalo wings are midget (ahem, I mean 'size challenged'). Super duper tiny. - Service. Our waitress was present, but sometimes we had to wait awhile for her to come around, otherwise we didn't see her at all. May not be her fault in a busy part of the restaurant. She was also brusque and a little sarcastic, which I didn't anticipate given the warm service we received the first time by someone else. - Website says you can get complimentary entry to Omnia. We asked about it on the way out. Turns out you need to buy a certain amount of food for each complimentary entrance, which is reasonable. What bemused me was that it took them about 10 minutes to sign off this perk for us. Required a manager's approval so we had to wait. Don't know what happened this time, but the allure definitely faded. If this was my first experience at Searsucker, I would not have returned.
