How long has this place been hiding in plain sight in the Strip District??? I had just crossed over the 16th St bridge and bam! There it was. The line was to the door, so I walked around a bit before coming back around 2:30 on a Wednesday. Very small line at that time.
The menu is a bit huge and overwhelming, but I decided pretty quickly on the Carne sandwich. What I was not prepared for was the cashier then asking me to choose between a whole list of meat cuts. I selected the filet, and I'm glad I did.
This steak was tremendous. It made me question why I only eat steak 2-3 times per year. It made me question my whole life. Cooked medium, it was like biting through soft butter. Excellent feel, excellent flavor. The bread had the right amount of interior softness and exterior crunch, and I'm always a fan of caramelized onions (next time I'll probably ask for extra). The sandwich also came with one lone, small pepper right in the middle, and some sauce.
Get to the Strip and eat a sandwich that's not Primanti's.
