| - This cinema is clean, has a lot of parking, is in a nice area convenient to my house, and shows a lot of movies. Why do I only give it three stars you might ask? Well, two reasons.
One, it has got the size and layout of a medium-sized sports stadium and you have to walk a long, long way, into the theater, up an escalator, over a bridge and to the end of a long hall in a separate warehouse building, to get to some of the movie theaters. Therefore, it is not a great place to take anyone who doesn't have good mobility and isn't in a wheelchair. There's lots of handicapped access for wheelchairs, but when I take my elderly mother, who is not wheelchair-bound but walks very slowly and can't go more than a couple blocks without a rest (and don't tell her "You should be in a wheelchair" because she does have enough energy left to yell at you and brain you with her big heavy purse) to the movies, I don't expect her to have to walk the length of two city blocks including up a big long escalator, just to get her into the movie house from the ticket desk. There also didn't seem to be a short cut to get out of the place after the movie so we had to walk the long, long walk back after.
Two, forget getting concessions because they are not located anywhere near several of the movie rooms. My first priority is getting Mom into a seat - after that, I really didn't want to have to walk a mile back to the popcorn stand and miss part of the movie. Even if I don't bring Mom along, I would like my movie food to be a little more conveniently located to where I'm going to be watching the show. There wasn't even a butter station for the popcorn nearby! I suppose this should be a plus since it meant I spent way less on overpriced snacks than I normally would have, which, given that the ticket was on the pricey side (eight bucks for a weekday noon matinee) was probably good for my wallet as well as my waistline.
A third problem I had on my most recent visit, which may have been an isolated issue but was still a PITA, is that when we entered the movie theater proper, the floor lighting that one normally uses to find a seat was entirely out. The movie was very crowded and it was so dark I was having to lean over and get right in the faces of people in the rows to try and find a seat! They fixed it about a half hour into the movie.
In view of all of the above, I would probably look and see if my movie selection was playing anywhere else and only go to Crocker Park as a last resort.
