  • After living at an apartment complex for many years that was starting a decline (I shall review once I get my security deposit back *cough*), I was looking for a new place to live. Living near where I work is not an option and wanting to stay in the same approximate 'hood that I have lived in or around for 22 years, after visiting several complexes in the area, I decided on Promenade Park. The leasing agent that I dealt with was BJ, who was an absolute delight! I toured the model, got a glimpse at what the joint had to offer and said I would think about it. I went online to see what floor plans and prices were available (I wanted a 2 BR with an attached garage, so the choices on this side of town are limited, with availability making it even more difficult). Slightly more than I wanted to pay per month, but knowing I needed to meet the price point for a quieter, more professional neighborhood than what I was living in, I started the leasing paperwork online. I was contacted the next day by BJ, paperwork was exchanged, dates were set and I was moving in soon! So far the place has been a dream. There is a salt water pool, a very cool club house that has a pool table and a big ole TV, a 24 seat theater for screening that you can reserve, a very well appointed workout area, grills, a playground for the kidlets and valet trash service (5 nights a week you put your trashcan out between 6 and 8, they pick it up between 8 and 10, along with recyclables - awesome!). Every apartment has it's own patio/doorway so there are no wooden breezeways for people to stomp through, it's like a townhouse setup. In my 2BR/2Bath apartment, the living room is a nice size, the master is huge with an extra sitting area and has a bathroom with a double vanity. The second bedroom is kind of small, but fine and has a full bath. Both bathrooms have garden tub showers, nice for lots of elbow room. The kitchen is a little small, but has lovely black appliances that work well with good lighting. Darker wooden cabinets throughout with polished chrome pulls. A separate laundry room and a nice GE washer/dryer set was included. A nice built-in desk with shelves as a computer nook, a wall of built in shelves and a huge extra storage closet (I could rent my closets out as bedrooms, they are all huge). The neighbors that I have encountered have been polite and people actually clean up after their dogs here - I was amazed. Coming from a first floor apartment on dog poop alley at my former residence, I was so happy to see responsible people. I am concerned my upstairs neighbor is going to stomp right through my ceiling one day, but that is to be expected in apartment living I have found (she keeps normal hours, so whatever...). I had a wonky garage door when I first moved in and the maintenance crew was dispatched on a Saturday to fix it - seriously?! The gentleman came in on his off day to get my garage straight, great service! The folks in the front office that I have dealt with have been nothing other than a pleasure and terribly helpful. While a tad on the expensive side, a full night of sleep in a beautiful apartment has been worth every penny. Update 4/13/13: My A/C needed some servicing and repair - the maintenance crew here is AWESOME! What a great group of guys who stuck with the unit until it was fixed and humming along like a champ. This required a late night of checking up on the unit one night and doing repairs on a pretty crappy weather-wise day. The guys are first-class and have been incredible!!!
