I love Thai food and I love Lotus of Siam. :-)
I highly recommend this place. I also encourage people to make reservations if possible. If you don't then expect to wait a really long time, even on a Tuesday night it was an hour wait.
FOOD: The food is incredible. The dishes we ate were: Garlic Prawns, Chicken Pad Thai, Duck Fried Panang Curry w/ egg noodle. Squid Garlic and combination fried rice.
My favorite dish is the Fried Duck Panang Curry w/ Egg Noodle. I wish we ordered two because sharing one place between five people just wasn't enough! The duck is fried so well and the crispy skin with the panang curry really completes the dish. We love egg noodle versus white rice so we added the egg noodle in, which is optional.
The Garlic Prawns is another delicious item you must try. The batter it is fried in is so tasty! It is seasoned well and tastes great when you dip it in the panang sauce. The Squid garlic was very tender. The chicken pad thai and fried rice was like other Thai restaurants. There was nothing special about those dishes.
PRICE: It was a little expensive, but if I had only gotten the garlic prawns and fried duck curry I am not sure if I would be saying that. For sure this restaurant charges higher end prices for great tasting food.
SERVICE: The service was good. I did not have much to complain about it. We waited for an hour and the hostess came to get us right away. There's also a bar that you can sit at and grab a drink while you wait as well. The server was fast to take our order and bring our food out. He checked on us a few times, which is always a plus.
AMBIANCE: The restaurant is big, but the tables are smaller and closer together. It's always so busy so it's extra loud. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're trying to have an intimate time with someone.
Overall, I would definitely come back here again for the fried duck curry and garlic prawns.
Happy Dining,
