| - The good: The man at the check-in was nice. The rooms were clean. The motel is old, and you can see some of the trappings of that age, like the tile patterns in the bathrooms and the old baseboard heaters (no longer in service, but still there). The sheets and pillows were clean, the bed was comfortable. The place had that smell of an old building, which is fine by me as long as it smells like a _clean_ old building. No issues with the shower. Soap and shampoo were provided. The WiFi was solid.
The bad: Some of the outlets didn't work. I need to use a laptop computer for work, and I had to drag the table across the room to get my computer to where its cord would reach an outlet that worked. Also, I couldn't even get the TV to turn on (that being said, I don't watch TV much so I didn't bother to complain or even try very hard)
The ugly: The carpet was coming up at the door to the bathroom and the carpet spikes were exposed. Ouch.
Final verdict: As a budget motel, the fact that the place is clean, comfortable, and has hot water and wifi is all I really ask. Between the outlets and the carpet strips I can't really go higher than 4 stars though.
UPDATE: Stayed there a month later in a 2 person room and, in addition to none of the complaints I had about the 1 person room being true this time around, they were very nice and helpful regarding a cellphone I misplaced. Rating upgraded from 4 to 5.
