Received a crack in my windshield from a rock. Called my insurance company and they sub out the work to Safelite. I set up an appointment for the following week. Guy came out and immediately started complaining about the age of the vehicle and the possibility of rust. He couldn't get one of the windshield wiper off so he complained about that. Then he complained about the hood scoop on the truck so I had to remove the hood myself with my bad back. He left to take another call while I removed the hood. When he came back he complained about the last call he was on and then started complaining about my vehicle again. As soon as he took the windshield off he claimed that there was way to much rust to continue. He took pictures and sent them to his manager. I took a look and saw some mild discoloration and asked if he was getting the foam backing of the headliner mixed up with the glass sealing surface. By this time he was on the phone with his manager who claimed I had level 4 rust (whatever that is) and she said that he had to stop. So at this time I'm at work with a truck without a windshield and no way to get home. I called my insurance company and expressed my displeasure. We mutually agreed not to go to a Safelite shop and went instead to a body shop that my family has used before. Guess what.... They couldn't find the level 4 rust only some mild discoloration. They suggested that the Safelite install tech and manager had gotten the headliner foam mixed up with the glass sealing surface. I now have a new windshield. No thanks to Safelite.
Pretty sad when you get old headliner foam mixed up with rust and then leave a customer stranded!
I will never use Safelite again!
