Another FTR! Do I get a prize? *Wink. Appropriate segway....
Pink Optical (I think their original name was Pink Eye Optical --probably a good idea on the name change) is a boutique provider of customized eye wear. I was lucky to attend the opening event at its store for Kay Tran Eye Wear, located near Queen and Dovercourt. I got a swanky eyewear case so I felt compelled to write about it (and was not asked to do so --remember I'm completing 29 non-food reviews this month!)
Kay Tran Eye Wear Opening Event
VIBE
Fashionable. Lots of fashion editors and gals about town at this party. I felt so under-dressed!
Kay Tran was born out of the experience of not being able to find eye wear that fit properly. It turned into a thesis while she was doing her MBA and her professor told her that she should pursue the idea as a business. I love hearing stories like that!
Refusing to passively sit by until someone else fixed it, the owner (Kay Tran) took the problem into her own hands. What began as an endless quest to find eyewear that solved these fit issues, soon turned into a two-year process of meticulous research and design to create a new, perfect frame with a different fit. The result: The KayTran Fit.
You can now get eyewear that has:
lens curve reduction
bridge adjustments (so you don't get red imprints on the bridge of your nose. That's the worst!)
widened temple angle
What I like: different varieties of sunglasses and eye glasses that fit different styles and face shapes. I got the golden opportunity of ones that actually fit my face that looked cute! I'm tempted to buy eyeglasses again. Price points are around $200 and up for a good variety that look like designer brands.
