Heading into my Toronto trip, I wanted to visit St. Lawrence Market more than anywhere else. I just love markets. Now, do I think this place is better than Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia? Please don't make me answer that. Do I think it's an expansive, overwhelming market filled with wonderful goods? Yes.
Surprise, surprise -- my favorite stop in here was the shop with the icewine. They gave samples of Riesling. That was pretty great. Also perused through the rest of the place -- stopping to stare at the fruit, the baked goods (of which I bought many...), and picked up a slice of pizza. There's also a huge fish stand.
One random thing to note from the produce section: the strawberries were huge. I don't think I've ever seen such large strawberries before. [This was during strawberry season. Maybe Ontario has big strawberries?]
You could spend hours browsing here. I was on a time limit so I didn't. But one day I'll go back to Toronto and will visit again.
