Dr. Alexis & her assistant were a God sent. This was the day I dreaded more than anything in my life. My girl Gia was 14 & had been fighting kidney failure for a year.
I knew it was time & had my husband make the initial call as I knew I couldn't get through the conversation.
They set up a time to come out to our house around 24 hours after the initial call. Dr. Alexis & her assistant were so gentle & calm with me & Gia the entire time.
They walked me through every step before they did anything & let me take all the time I needed.
I held her as they gave her the shot to calm her & we waited about 10 minutes where I told some stories about Gia & just talked to my baby to let her know how much I love her & thank her for making me a better person. I then laid her on her favorite pillow & when I was ready they gave her the final shot. I've never done this at home before but will never do it any other way now I have. My girl showed no fear the whole time & was very comfortable. She hated the vet's office so I knew if I didn't have to I wouldn't have her last moment be there.
It's definitely more expensive than at the vet's office but so worth it being home & in her favorite bed. They also did a clay imprint of her paw on a clay circle & her ashes will be delivered to me within a couple weeks.
Dr. Alexis is a gentle soul & even shed a tear with me. She gave Gia the most loving, peaceful last moments of her life & for that I'll always be grateful.
