My amazing boyfriend lives within walking distance of Dutch Brothers. I love getting my special coffee drink, vanilla latte, which I consider a splurge. I often spend weekends with him and we love to go on a Saturday morning walk to get me a coffee and then to get a donut from Bosa. We've been doing this for two years and I've had the same thoughts each time for a review. Since we walk I join the line at the window to order my coffee. I understand that the person at the window is probably encouraged to engage in conversation with each customer, but there are many times the line is long. We all wait while the cashier chats with the customer at the window. Having worked in the service industry, I understand why the management wants employees to do this but I believe that the employee working needs to be able to recognize the line of people waiting and be more proactive by attending to more than one person in line. Last weekend I waited in the walk-up line. A lady before me spent a long, very long, time engaging the employee in a discussion about the price of her coffee drink. Finally, one of the others waiting in line spoke up and asked the employee if she could take care of the people in line and have someone else continue the discussion. Today was another day of walking towards Dutch Brothers only to see a line of at least 7 or 8 walk-up people. It's so frustrating because we both knew that we'd be waiting forever and it isn't worth it. We chose to bypass and go to Starbucks later. I hate to compare to a competitor but every time I go to Starbucks, things are run smoothly and quickly. I appreciate it. I give this place 3 stars because the coffee is good and if there aren't too many people, I'll get my coffee in a somewhat timely manner. I just understand that service is slow here and I can take it or leave it.
