This was my third or fourth visit to Old Town Scottsdale. I remembered it as a charming place with lots of stores where you could buy local arts and crafts and souvenirs that you could not buy anywhere else, including Native American crafts and art. I have a number of things that I purchased on previous trips to Scottsdale. However, in the last four years Old Town Scottsdale has been transformed into a giant jewelry store separated by bars and burger joints. I did manage to find a couple of good shops where I could buy souvenirs. I made sure that I left some money in those stores in hopes that they will still be there the next time I am in Scottsdale. But, for me, the charm is gone. Old Town Scottsdale is looking more and more like a Cruise Ship Port than an oasis of western arts and crafts.
