  • I would buy gift certificate 3 month memberships for my wife every 3 months. I would pay in full at the time. During purchases I was constantly being persuaded to buy yearly memberships where they would have my credit card information and do a monthly auto deduction. I kept telling them no thank you but the sales women at the front desk never let up to the point of annoyance. Another time I purchased a 3 month gift card and was persuaded to buy one with a FREE gift basket. When I paid for it they deducted the 1/2 hour off of the total amount of gift card time and applied the $20 towards the gift basket ! therefore I wound up paying for the basket...which was nothing more than $5 worth of trinkets. THEN IT IS NOT FREE, IS IT ! Then another time I went in for another 3 month gift card and was told they don't sell them anymore except around the holidays. WOW, another ploy to get you to buy bigger more lengthy packages. I walked out.The front counter girls rarely know exactly what they are selling, they constantly have to phone a manager or higher up to get clarification on pricing. ME's membership vs pay as you go practices are so confusing and convoluted that one is ready to give up and buy the package (their objective I believe), leading to very questionable business practices. And my wife usually indicated to me that after a 60 or 90 minute massage her neck and upper back still ached ! She did also tell me that her therapist was very nice and was pretty good except for the lack of attention to particularly sore areas my wife would explain to the therapist before the actual massage. Thus still being achy afterwards. There was one time that my wife came out after the massage and proceeded to hand the gift card and the counter woman tried to tell her that she owed $95 without checking their database to double check my wife's membership status ! instead of the $60 for the one hour left on her gift card, almost insisting that my wife hand over her credit card and pay the difference. My wife is a strong and smart woman and would not be taken in by this bullying, rude and uninformed woman. Overall, I have found some of these women to be not very well informed concerning pricing etc., pushy to the point of being harassing, and feel they do not have the customer/client's interest at the forefront of their agenda. My wife has found another massage therapist who is better at what she does, doesn't play ridiculous games in order to make more sales, and treats her with more respect and caring then anyone ever did at Massage Envy, Richland mall, Gibsonia.
