At one time they did not require you to have a membership card for check in; you could just come and go as you please. They now require online registration for any services, and then provide a card to you upon completion. There is a "children under 18 must have adult supervision" sign in the lobby now, as the child watch area has been taken away. Women who need childcare are given a list of centers in the area that charge discounted rates to Fresh Start members. A scholarship is offered to women to help offset costs; but this is given on a limited basis, and only covers costs of programs inside the center. This place was built to help women, and offers Goodwill career services as well; but there is little help for low income women=
Many of the programs cost money even so you could find the same programs for free through an online search. There are no transportation vouchers, or bus passes given out. How are low income women and/or women in need of childcare supposed to benefit from this place?- The best things about this place are: The Goodwill career services, the produce food bus that visits the parking lot, the clothing closet, and the friendliness of the staff/volunteers.
