Island Flavor was packed when I came for lunch on a weekday. It took a while to get our food (~20 min) for take out but at least it was fresh! I tried a Mixed Plate of Kalbi Ribs and Chicken Katsu and my boyfriend had the Furikake Chicken. The portions are hugeee! The plate comes with 2 scoops of rice and a side of maraconi salad.
They gave me 6 Kalbi ribs for a mixed order which is great but the ribs themselves were very thick, chewy and fatty ): I didn't like eating them too much. The Chicken Katsu was disappointing too since it wasn't very crispy. My boyfriend scored with his order though. The Furikake Chicken was seasoned perfectly and really does taste like furikake! The chicken was crispy and tender; I would definitely recommend this dish. The macaroni salad was delicious and one of our favorites as well.
I would give this place 3.5 stars, so a 4 rounding up. Although I was disappointed with the Kalbi and Chicken Katsu, the awesomeness of the Furikake Chicken made up for it. I recommend skipping the Kalbi and Katsu and trying something different!
