| - Yea, they finally opened a store in the old Bashas store in this shopping center. Boooo . . . . they have some odd idea that I want or need another of the loathsome membership cards. It is free, but do I really have to hassle with another one of these??? They provided me with a temporary membership card for today's visit.
Browse, browse, browse. Fifty pound boxes of potatoes, onions, meats, etc. Ohhhhh, geared to the commercial market. OK. Surely, there must be something here I could use (and would keep and not spoil before I use it up). I know, pasta. I just bought some that morning at Fry's, but let me check it out. It will store in the pantry. Wait. . .. . hmmmm. . . . .they sell it in 5 pound packages for almost $6. I just purchased 6 pounds at Frys this morning for $.49/pound, so my 6 pounds had cost just $3. Why would I want to pay $6 for 5 pounds? Browse, browse, browse. More items that are in huge packages that cost more per unit (pound, ounce, per item, etc) than local grocery stores.
The aisles are wide and clean. There are plenty of employees and checkouts. The store was nearly empty of customers. Parking is plentiful.
Darn. I was hoping for some competition for the local grocery chains. This was not it.
