| - A+++ would woodshop again!!
I only wish I could afford a subscription/membership...since they are opening one up in STL.
I recently bought an older radial arm saw, so I took their Woodshop 101 SBU (Safety and Basic Use) class so I could learn how to safely use my saw at home in St. Louis... I was visiting my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA to see family for Thanksgiving last year, and that is when my boyfriend and I decided to take this class.
We built two small wooden shelves (one per each of us) and got to learn how to use the table saw, miter saw, band saw, belt sander, and drill press. We also used some hand held tools. Instructor was knowledgeable and funny. Not a bad deal for the length, I think it was like 2 hr class for $120....(per person.) don't quote me on that though, I have shit memory! Thereabouts tho, but you can find the pricing on their site. I was just glad they had a class during the holiday week, would have been hard to squeeze in otherwise!!
This place is epic cool, and I wish I could come here all the time and use their awesome tools and machinery!! I will probably go to the one in STL (opening ~summer 2016) to try out a laser cutter to help me decide if I wanna buy one for home use or not.
Also their fantastic woodshop tools have spoiled me!! That miter saw!! UNNFFFFF!!!
BTW the SBU classes are the ones you must take and pass successfully before they will allow you to use the tools if you are a member.
Wear clothing that is not loose-fitting, tie up any long hair, use earplugs/muffs/hearing protection, safety glasses, and dust mask/respirator when working with woodshop tools. Safety is priority!!!! And clean up after yourself when finished. ;-D
