| - I would strongly urge those who are considering NOT to stay at the Hilton Madison, specifically because you do not get what you pay for. Considering the high prices here - and even if the prices weren't so high - there are certain forms of up-keep and decency required to run a hotel. First, the room that we were given smelled terribly musty, as if someone had been smoking in it. Second, the water coming out of the taps - as many have mentioned - tastes terrible and does not wash soap off of you. When I went downstairs to get water from the container, it was empty. The man at the front desk told me to to just use the tap in my room, because midwest water is the best .. are you kidding me? Have you heard of Detroit?? Also, seriously, isn't it your job to keep the water replenished and not spout nonsense that is empirically false? For almost $200/night, you're going to skimp on water? Seriously? Finally, and most seriously, the front desk staff insistently asked whether my husband and I wanted to separate beds, despite my making it rather clear that we (two men) were married... would they ask a man and a woman this REPEATEDLY? i think not. seriously not worth it to be treated like this, and talked to in that way.
