- Maine Lobster Thermidor: Asparagus, fines herbes, mushroom duxelles, sauce bernaise
- Chocolate Macaron: French chocolate cookie, Vahlrona chocolate mousse
Everything was delicious. The $80 menu was a lot stronger compared to the $50 menu (or at least our selections) as all three items from the second menu were my favorites of the evening. The King Crab Crepe and Lobster Thermidor were outstanding dishes! If you haven't had this preparation of lobster, you must try it here. It is absolutely delicious. I love many lobster dishes, but this one is on top of the list. Plus, the Chocolate Macaron caught me by surprise. I wasn't really expecting much of it, but the macaron itself had a great consistency and the mousse was lovely. I didn't want it to end!
Though we thoroughly enjoyed our food, service was blah. When we sat down, our server forgot to come to our table (he admitted this), so we waited for quite some time without beverages or menus (even worse for a restaurant with many, many people walking around, including managers). Our server was nice, but he wasn't available very often. He would show up immediately after our food would arrive - basically, when we didn't need anything, but rarely showed otherwise. It was even troublesome to receive water refills. He had a couple tables directly next to us and would literally forget to stop by when checking on them. After we finally got the check, I couldn't flag down a single person to pick up my payment. I was seriously holding up the book with my card sticking out and still, it took several minutes to get anyone's attention. Our overall experience wasn't terrible, but it did leave a bad taste in our mouth and I definitely expect more from a Michael Mina restaurant.
I do wish to try their brunch and am willing to give their service another shot!
