  • We wanted a sofa with reclining ends and separate recliner. Went to a dozen different furniture stores around the valley and ended up making our purchase at the Dump. We definitely could have gotten a cheaper couch and chair elsewhere (for example, if we settled for microfiber or more rickety construction of the recliner parts), but we were looking for specific signs of quality in our reclining parts and sturdy fabrics, and only found the magic combo of ingredients at a few stores. The Dump was cheaper than Lazy Boy, but the same as JC Penneys. The quality of construction was what I would call mid-to-upper range and it had a price to match. The main reason we went with the Dump was because they let us have free shipping and had the items in stock. Other places wanted to charge a lot for shipping and had to special order the stuff. Item was delivered as promised, had a small ding in a non-visible place which ticked me off, but I let it go. Delivery guys were great - they had to get it through some tight spaces and the couch was REALLY heavy. They didn't complain and only scuffed one wall - which is amazing considering how many scuffs we made ourselves when we moved in dealing with lighter furniture but the same tough layout. The sales staff was pretty nice. We spoke with the same person on our multiple visits to the store while we were comparison shopping and had her close the deal for us. One day, when I popped in to close the deal, my salesperson was returning from lunch and was going to be a few minutes before helping me. In that few minutes, no less than 7 different sales people all came buzzing by to see if I needed help. It was nice at first, but downright annoying as my lady finally arrived. I felt like I was being swarmed and when I shooed them away, a few looked like they took it really personally eventhough I was totally polite about it! Anyway, we're really happy with our purchase now. The couch and chair are great quality, the price was par with what we saw at a dozen other places, delivery was good. It certainly isn't the bargain store they advertise themselves to be, but if you dig for deals, you might find something. Or if you've resigned yourself to paying mid-range prices for slightly higher quality, then the Dump is a contender among many. I would've rather gone to Pruitt's - they have the best deals in Phoenix, but 90% of their couches were in microsuede and I hate butt prints.
