Last year I came away disappointed with Festival in the Park basically because it was the same arts vendors as the previous year and none of them really interested me.
This year the weather didn't cooperate for the festival which was unfortunate. I managed to walk to the park on Sunday for about an hour before the monsoons came again. There were different arts vendors this year and I saw a few things I liked but I saw the storm clouds coming and needed to walk home before getting dumped on so i only came home with a small painting of the Charlotte skyline.
The entertainment seemed decent this year but I didnt really stick around to watch more than 10 minutes of a performance./
The food vendors are mostly disappointing. How many greek food vendors does a festival like this need? There were at least 3 different greek vendors with some of them having multiple stands. The other options were mostly fried as well. Yuck. I settled for a hot dog from one vendor and strawberry shortcake from another. Both were wonderful. I will look for them again next year.
What disappointed me is that with the rains of the weekend and the foot and golf cart traffic at the event that the park will pretty much be torn up for a while which is a shame because this park is the best one in Charlotte.
Maybe its time to move the festival out of the park?
