| - I tried the Aveda Institute this week for the first time and I'm glad to report that I had a good experience. I had to make an appointment a week in advance, and I decided to try an "Academy Student" and have a Shampoo & Blow Dry done ($25.00). At this institute you can choose from the following levels of students: Aveda Institute; Academy Students; Advanced Graduates; Educators. The cost varies by the level of student, which I think is a good idea because you get to choose. And of course Aveda products are used in your hair.
Let me say this is the quickest blow dry I've had done at a school, this girl knew what she was doing and I was so glad to be out of there before 2 hours (I was done with everything in about an hour). Kelsey my stylist was great, she went the extra mile and was very helpful in recommended a particular product that would work for my hair type, without being pushy and try to "sell" it to me.
There was one teacher on the floor that day, he did not come over to check my hair before I left, I guess because I didn't have a colour or a cut done, didn't bother me because I was pleased with the finished product. You do get a shoulder massage and a scalp massage, which were great. I noticed other customers getting hand massages, but I didn't get that, maybe because my stylist was busy with the blow dry, next time I hope. So the location is great for me and I think I will be back in future. My hair looks fab!
I don't have a problem going to hair schools, why pay full price when you can get the same thing done for half the price? It's called being cost conscious. And the students need to learn on somebody.
