I went to Amber Unicorn for the first time today. I was impressed with the number of books, and the wide variety of genres. I was greeted by many people there, and often was asked if I needed any help, in a friendly way. I felt very welcome in their store.
They have a lot of vintage books that are of good quality. They had a great selection of art books, and a whole wall of cookbooks.
I was able to trade 3 books for the equivalent of $6 that went toward my purchase. The man who helped me check out (the owner, I think) threw in one of the books I wanted for free, and also took almost a dollar off of my purchase for no reason!
I feel like this is a place I could spend hours in, picking up book after book.
However, I was a little disappointed at some of the prices. Most paperbacks that are not on sale are 50% off the original retail price. The books I bought today could have been $1 each online, but I am still happy to buy from a local shop.
