This studio was amazingly convenient for me, so after I discovered Pilates (thanks to a good friend in Ohio who is an amazing Pilates instructor) I was thrilled to find a studio so close to my house. I tried a class first in January 2011. But my budget wouldn't let me sign up. So this year when my budget did allow, I went to another class. While I wasn't thrilled at the non-traditional aspect of this studio (she encourages her students to wear shoes on the reformers), I was getting a good workout.
Somehow, somewhere along the line, Kathy apparently found something I said or did to be worthy of dumping me from her studio. She did not bother to discuss any issue with me; she just sent me an email saying not to come back to class and asking where to send my refund.
So if you're looking for a more traditional Pilates studio, this isn't the studio for you. After discussing this issue with my Ohio Pilates-instructor friend, she says I'm better off going to a "real" Pilates studio. I find it quite a shame that this owner didn't even bother to discuss whatever the issues are so we could communicate through it.
I wish Kathy well. Maybe in the future she'll actually discuss issues with her students before those issues get to the point of being kicked out. For those of you reading this who are confident, assertive, and ask questions, this might not be the studio for you.
