| - The BF and I go to Czuchraj about once per month to load up on some delicious goodies. It's a steal if you catch them when they have a bulk-buying option. Last time we went, we got to choose 5 different meats for $20 (any type of smokey, any flavor of chicken sausage, polish boys are Slovenians, thick or thin cut bacon, and smoked brats or raw brats). They say that you get a pound of each, but you actually get over a pound. It really is a steal.
The cajun smokies are HOT, but so good. My favorite are the honey. You should try them all to find your favorite.
We are not fans of their Polish Boys at all. We thought they had a really odd flavor, and my boyfriend didn't even want to finish one because he was so turned off by it. Next time, we'd get the Slovenians instead.
The brats were good, although not particularly memorable.
For bacon, the BF chose the thick cut, and I thought it was really gross. Far too fatty. Every time he cooked some up, he had to trim the fat off because it was inedible. Get the thin cut instead.
We chose the Apple Chicken Sausage which was seriously out of this world. Definitely my favorite from the sausage/brat grouping.
Word of caution- Make sure you store everything properly. Our smokies got moldy in about a day and a half, and we had to toss them. We weren't too pleased. The Polish Boys went moldy in about 3 or 4 days. Do yourself a favor, and keep things frozen until you plan to use them. Otherwise, you're throwing money away.
My only wish is that I knew the practices of how they raise the animals they use. I prefer grass-fed, pasture-raised animals. When I asked the gentleman helping us last time, he said he didn't know how the animals were raised. Bummer.
