| - My love affair with Vegas began in fifth grade. I was ten years old, and my father had to attend the Sema car show for business reasons (since he co-owns a successful auto parts warehouse). On my first trip to Vegas, I laughed at Zzyzx Road and its silly name, ate at a really cool McDonald's, and stayed at a Best Western.
I went back the next year, where my parents and I stayed at the MGM Grand and I fell in love with the hotel. We also ate McDonald's for all of our meals on that trip, but that's another story.
I've been to Vegas only four times, a surprisingly low number for somebody who lives in Los Angeles. My most recent trip was in February right before my birthday, and I'm planning to go back within the next two or three months. It's always a lot of fun to spend the weekend in Vegas, and every time I go, it always seems like there's not enough time to see everything.
Before you ask, no, I don't go to Las Vegas for the fancy clubs, the multitude of designer clothing shops, or the clubbing, stuff this indie rock-loving, coffee-addicted photographer doesn't need. I go because I want a break from my boring life, a break from my boring college classes, and to have some excitement in my life. If I wanted to get away for the weekend to see chill, ragingly hipster people like me, I'd go up to Reno, but Reno is eight hours from Los Angeles and is too far for a weekend trip.
I'll see you soon, Las Vegas Strip. Hopefully.
