  • First off, that "not enough parking/we need a mega-parking expansion" complaint people bring up? It's never going to happen. We don't have the space to build anywhere else as it is. And if they do try to push a proposal for a mega-parking complex through City Council, I will be fighting tooth and nail with the rest of the Port Credit community groups to make sure that never happens. Ahem. Back to lighter topics. One of my first memories, maybe even my first, was standing on Platform 1 at the PC GO with my parents as a child. It was 1996, and they were taking me to Medieval Times for my eighth birthday. I'll never forget standing there and seeing my mother tell me that she had bought me a subscription to Disney Adventures magazine (R.I.P. the best magazine ever), and presented me with the first issue for the coming year. That was an experience that left an indelible mark on me as a kid, and it's something that's stayed with me over the years. You might even say it influenced my philosophy and interactions with others, trying to give back as much as I can. I love the PC GO. I always have and I always will. If it's not sitting here with friends waiting for a train into Toronto, I'm sitting near the ticket counter reading a Metro and waiting for a friend to come from out-of-town, taking a shortcut through the terminal on my way to the village, or generally living just within walking distance and seeing it almost every time I step out. It's not the biggest or flashiest train station, but it's one that everyone knows and everyone goes to. Even yesterday, I ran into a friend of mine who came from Clarkson down to P.C. to meet her mother so they could catch a train to go to the opera in T.O. together. You just never know who you're going to run into here, and I have found myself catching up with friends and acquaintances who are passing through, to an odd degree. Yeah, it's got a few problems, namely the fact that you need to get to the station early for parking or not all, and the newsstand can be a bit dodgy in terms of food/paper selection, but I still love the PC GO all the same. It's a place I continue to gravitate around, unintentionally or not.
