  • I had a decent experience at Jjanga. I read that is was one of the top AYCE around, so I decided to give it a shot. As a starter, I had a reservation for 6 tonight (heads up, 20% included gratuity of 6+ parties). We were welcomed by the hostess and staff members, which is common in many Japanese restaurants. It took us a while to decide who was doing AYCE, but we got it settled (1hr time limit on ordering, no time limit on dining. I'll get to this in a moment). My personal orders: our first round of sushi came out rather quicker than expected, which gave them some pretty good kudos. Dancing Dragon: dragon roll with some shrimp tempura through out. Roll slightly smaller than I've seen in other establishments. Rice to topping ratio was good. Pretty fresh. 4 out of 5. Spider Roll: soft shell crab and California roll combo. Again, smaller roll than other places. Personally, could have topped with a little more eel sauce. 3.5 out of 5. Beef tataki: 2 quick seared beef nigiri for you rare meat enthusiasts. Standard nigiri size, rice was seasoned in a unique way which complimented the beef. And a dish not found in many other places. 1 order limit per person 5 out of 5 (I like my beef rare). Cowboy roll: crab and cucumber filling with seared beef on top. Again, rice seasoned uniquely which was new and a fan of rare beef. What threw it off for me was the crab meat, but never know until you try. 4 out of 5. Sunset Special: shrimp tempura and cucumber topped with spicy tuna, salmon, spicy mayonnaise, and eel sauce. Had a bigger kick than expected, especially with the spicy mayonnaise. Freshness of the roll was decent. 4 out of 5 Golden Scallop: deep fried scallops, cut in half, topped with spicy mayonnaise. Fried beautifully. As a whole scallop, is a medium size. 2pieces (1 whole scallop), limit 1 order per person. 3out of 5 Now, as I mentioned earlier, the orders came rather quick and was pretty nice to get an early start. As we made our way to round two, the orders started to come a little slower. At the same time, they brought us rolls we did not order and they had forgotten a few. Towards the end of the 1hr ordering time, servers began to make themselves slightly scarce, other than to clear off plates and refilled water. Now here's what got to me. Granted we did order a few passed the 1hr mark, but there was a steady turn over so we did not over stay ourselves, but it's hard to order when the servers are not around. The manager then came over to our table with the check in hand (more or less telling us time to go) while a few in the party were still waiting on a few rolls. We asked for the desserts (ice cream or mochi ice cream) and were given some sideways glances for staying even longer. Big points deduction for customer service (not worth the 20%). Kudos on a variety of rolls and unique items. The freshness was great (for our party, pretty picky group) and roll were well seasoned/topped. Go for the food not the service. 3 out of 5 over all
