| - I've been eyeing Hana Japanese Eatery for a while now as I have dined at the French Market that is diagonally across the street. If you haven't gone there you really should, but this is supposed to be a review of Hana Japanese Eatery. As I said I've been wanting to come here for a while, and tonight I said to my wife that this is where we are going for dinner. We got there a little after 6 and got a seat right away. We had a seat by the door so I was able to hear them tell people there would be a little wait. It was about 7. They have a rule about parties of 2. They will not seat you at a table meant for 4 or more, so that is why several parties of 2 had a slight wait. This is a small place with a small outside patio to match. The staff are very friendly welcoming you as you enter. This is a high energy place, at least it was tonight. Serving staff are moving about quickly, orders are being called out by the head chef to the sue chefs and announcing orders that are ready and for what table to the wait staff. I want you to understand this is not a criticism, it is one thing I really liked about the place. All around the sounds of people talking, having a good time, mixed in with the calling of orders etc. just made me love this place more. And even though the energy vibe was high, at no time did we feel rushed. My wife and I stayed for over an hour, and when we left we were wished a good evening and encouraged to come back soon. And I will definitely be coming back soon because of the food. A great menu of small plates and entree's that are carefully crafted. The fish doesn't get any fresher than this. Yes, fresh fish in AZ. Presentation is equally well done. When I asked the person serving me questions she was very happy to explain what it was and the best way to eat it. There is so much more my wife and I want to try. Some other things you should know. This is a BYOB place. People were coming with their six packs of beer, bottles of wine, etc. They have a fridge to put your extra beers or bottles of wine to keep them cold until you need it. Also, no corking fee. They really just want you to come and have a great time. And we did. Oh, and as we drove up I saw in their front window a poster that said "We Support Red For Ed". As a K-8 Social Emotional Learning Specialist, I appreciate their support. So if you are a teacher or support staff you should bring yourself here to support them. And if you are not, you should eat here anyway.
