Today tried to purchase 4 items, Roma tomatoes, red delicious apples, cucumbers, avocados. Sign for Roma tomatoes was 0.99/lb, charged $1.69/lb. Sign for the apples was $0.69 I was charged $0.99/lb. I couldn't check the other items because they had scrolled off the checker's screen...customers have no way to see what they're being charged of course without trying to look over the checker's shoulder and have really good eye sight.
I do understand there are many excuses why this happens but it keeps happening and just happens to almost always be in the store's favor...this time to the tune of 30-70% profit on top of their normal profit. And if you're willing to go thru a long hassle they will probably only charge you the displayed price...gee thanks.
This practice is of course illegal in AZ but Food City sure isn't concerned. Food City prices only appear to be lower on some things. Buying a cart full of groceries would make checking the price you're being charged almost impossible. Food City obviously knows this.
While I appreciate a good scam I'd rather not be the target. I see no reason to shop at Food City and will now boycott their stores.
