| - My husband (Dave P.) and I had lunch at the TapHaus yesterday (6/16/12), and I woke up this morning wanting to go back for more. A friend had mentioned that their Rueben sandwich was a piece of food art, so we decided to check it out.
We had previously visited the TapHaus in the winter, for a drink only, and were left with less than enthusiastic feeling than we had hoped. We had sat at the bar, and even though the bar was somewhat busy, the bartender & staff didn't seem too concerned about paying attention to the customers. Yesterdays experience was completely different.
It was a late lunch/early dinner for us and neither of us were super hungry. We decided to split the Soft Pretzel appetizer. The pretzel (apparently made in-house) was hot and delicious, with a spicy cheese dipping sauce. We also split the lunch special, The Harvest Burger. Brittany, the bartender, suggested it, and I'm so glad we listened to her.
Another poster - Scott S. - was at the other end of the bar (we were that couple that were raving over the sandwich) and I'm sorry he wasn't able to try the burger. Outstanding. Ham, apple, cheese, and burger on a pretzel roll. Doesn't sound right, but don't be fooled. The fries were good portions, hot, with great seasoning. This visit well exceeded expectations.
The staff were all attentive (even those not serving us), welcoming and gracious. Mark Bradshaw happened to be there as well, and gave Dave a sample of the Orange Blossom Cream Ale. It is delicious. We had an opportunity to chat with Chase, the manager, and they acknowledge that they had a rough start, with a bad menu. It seems as though they got back on track, and we look forward to going back to check out other items on the menu (specifically, the Rueben). Everything is being made in-house, and you can tell by the quality.
Chase, Brittany, Mark, and all the rest of the staff - thanks for a great meal and enjoyable time! If you haven't been there recently, or had a bad experience prior, give them another chance! I don't think you'll regret it.
