I went to see Tiffany today for a cut and color. Having moved to Phoenix from Texas in October, I had already been to another stylist at a different salon and knew as soon as I stood up from the chair that I would not be back. So, I ended up reading other salon reviews and called Altered Ego. The person who answered the phone was very interested in the type of cut I wanted and what I was looking to achieve. She recommended Tiffany and said she was fantastic with mid to short styles. I'm easy going but I know when I have received a cut I like or don't like. I can tell almost immediately when the stylist starts cutting. So, when I sat down with Tiffany, I showed her pics of what I was going for and what had gone wrong with the last stylist that cut my hair. She noticed my hair type and asked if I ever wore it curly (I have a natural wave.) I know that sounds easy to do but I've been to stylists that don't seem to notice or know what type of hair I have or at least they don't seem to care. It's important to me that a stylist recognizes my hair type because it lets me know that they know certain cuts cannot or will not work for me. She started cutting and I was immediately comfortable. She told me what she was cutting and why she thought it would work better for what I wanted to achieve. She explained how doing this or that would balance out this feature (I have a wide jaw) and how smoothing out some layers or taking some length off would do this or that. It was obvious she knew what she was doing and was paying attention to what I wanted and also to what would look good on me. Before she even blew my hair dry, I could see the difference in the cut and style. I loved it. She did a fabulous job with my color too! I couldn't be happier. On top of that, she was so very sweet and very nice. I've never been a salon hopper. I like to find someone and stick with them. To me, a stylist is one of the best relationships you can have, once you find the right one. If you spend 3 hours with someone every 8 weeks, you gotta get along with them. I know that I have found my stylist here in Phoenix. I am already comfortable enough after one cut to let her do her "thing" and do whatever she thinks will look good the next time or whenever a "whim" comes to her. It was a fantastic experience.
